Confidentiality and It's Limits - Updated 28th of May 2023

All interactions which take place in the setting of therapy and counselling are considered confidential. This includes all interactions with me, any scheduling of appointments and all session content records. I will not verify to any third party that you are a client unless you choose to give me permission in writing to release any or specific information about you to any person or agency that you designate. 

The limits of confidentiality are in situations where there is:-

1.  a legal proceeding where a judge may issue a court order. This would require me as your counsellor/therapist to testify in court or for notes to be requested/subpoenaed.

2.  engaging in illegal activity such as, money laundering or planning terrorist’s offences.

3.  if I learn of or believe that you are threatening serious harm to yourself or another person, I may seek to contact relevant services (Social Services) or family members (for example an emergency contact) who can help provide protection.

4.  in line with the professional bodies of which I am a member, I have regular clinical supervision. During discussions in supervision, no personally identifiable information will be disclosed. My supervisor is also bound to keep information confidential.
